Dental Crowns

A tooth problem such as infection, structural damage, or decay needs urgent attention in order to avoid tooth loss and other issues.

Vancouver, BC, dentists Mark Norris, Alex Wong, and Vanessa Lee can restore your tooth and your comfort with a natural-looking dental crown.

It is important not to delay treatment...

Prevent Tooth Loss & Protect Your Smile 3 Reasons to Promptly Seek Treatment

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped porcelain cap that covers a compromised tooth while creating a natural appearance. If you have a compromised tooth, there are many reasons to reach out to our dentists as soon as possible to find out if a crown or another solution is the best way to solve the issue:

Eliminate Painful Symptoms

A damaged, decayed, or infected tooth can be very painful, and the symptoms will just get worse over time. Our dentist will treat the problem to alleviate dental discomfort, and cap the tooth with a crown once the issue has been resolved.

Save Your Natural Teeth

If left untreated, an infection can spread and cause you to lose your teeth. Saving your natural tooth is always preferable to getting a dental prosthetic. A crown can protect the remaining natural tissue if your tooth has been compromised.

Enhance the Appearance of Your Smile

While crowns serve important practical purposes, they can also improve the aesthetics of your smile. Dental crowns can cover cracks, intrinsic discoloration, and other severe cosmetic issues that less extensive treatments often cannot.

Take A Closer Look At The Procedure

Once issues such as decay or infection have been resolved, the tooth will be reshaped to accommodate a crown. Once the crown is in place, it will support and protect the remaining natural tissue.

What happens if I need a tooth extraction?

We Offer Dental Implants

If you are missing a tooth or require extraction, a dental implant supporting a dental crown may be the perfect solution for you. Implants are an innovative form of restorative dentistry designed to replace the missing tooth root and support a replacement tooth. A titanium implant is placed into the jawbone, where it provides the stimulation necessary to stop the bone atrophy that follows tooth loss. Our dentist will then design a custom porcelain crown to top your implant, replacing the entire lost tooth from the root to the chewing surface.

Dental Crown Timeline

We can restore your teeth within a couple of weeks:

"We accept most major dental insurance plans and will work directly with your provider to get you the maximum coverage."

Dental Exam

We begin with a consultation at our Vancouver practice to examine your teeth and diagnose your dental condition. If a dental crown is needed, we will discuss your treatment options and schedule the procedure.

Your dentist will take the necessary measures to stabilize the tooth. If infection and decay spread to the inner chamber of a tooth, for example, it will require root canal treatment. Our dentist creates a small hole in the exterior of the tooth to extract the infected pulp. Once this is complete, the inside of your tooth is sterilized and filled.

Temporary Crown

A crown is now needed to protect what is left of the tooth. We take detailed impressions to design the custom restoration and select a shade of porcelain to match your enamel. In the meantime, while your permanent crown is being made, we will attach a temporary crown to your tooth for protection.

Final Restoration

In a week or two, your permanent crown will be ready for placement. We first check the fit and make any necessary adjustments. Once you are satisfied with how the crown looks and feels, we will bond it to the tooth with special dental cement.

How Much Do Dental Crowns Cost?

Our dental crown treatment is completely customized to each individual and will vary in price, depending on the size of the restoration, the materials used, and other factors. After we examine your teeth in person we can give you a personalized cost estimate. If your dental crown is needed for health reasons, it is considered restorative dentistry and will typically be covered at least partially by insurance. Our Vancouver practice accepts most major dental insurance plans and will work directly with your provider to get you the maximum coverage.
